Church Anniversary

Earlier this month we celebrated our church anniversary. Our theme was “Christ Alone”, based on the text from Acts 4:12 which says, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

We were blessed to have Pastor Resty Rivera from Mabalacat, Pampanga as our guest speaker for the evening. He spoke from Genesis 6-7 and related how just as the ark was the only hope for people to be saved from the flood, so too is Jesus the only hope for our salvation.

We were blessed to have over 270 people attend our evening anniversary service and we praise the Lord that there were people who indicated that they understood God's plan of salvation and for the first time put their trust in Christ alone to save them.

We praise and thank the Lord for our church members who volunteered to make this anniversary a success and we thank all of you for your constant prayers!

Mission Team Recap

Last month a large group from the U.S. came to the Philippines for a mission trip. They were able to be at our church as well as several different areas during their busy week and a half visit. The following is a short summary of their trip. A special "thank you" to Marian Todd for the photos.

One of the events that our church was blessed to be able to have was a medical/dental clinic. We opened the medical mission at 8:30am and continued until about 4:00pm. Our records show that there were over 150 people that come to the clinic to receive free medical attention.

We also used this opportunity to talk to each one of those people and clearly share the gospel with them. The members of the mission team partnered with the people from our church to share and translate the message of salvation and we believe that many people trusted in Christ during that time of personal evangelism.

Also during that day, some of the people on the mission team were able to join a couple of teachers and students from our church and go to the local high school and elementary school to pass out tracts and talk with the students. The local students were very excited to have some foreign visitors at their school!

We are especially thankful to Dr. Tanney and Nurse Meg for generously supplying the medicine and for graciously attending to all those who came to the clinic. We also are grateful to the local dentists who freely gave of their time and spent the entire morning at the clinic. Lastly, we are thankful for all of the mission team members who came to visit our church and help with the clinic as well as all of the volunteers from our church who helped to make this event possible.

The following day we traveled to Pastor Edwin Samson’s church in Angeles City to continue the medical mission. While the clinic was going on, the team had a unique opportunity to go to one of the largest schools in Angeles City, Holy Angel University, and play some exhibition games against their volleyball and basketball teams. There were probably over 1,000 students who were gathered in the gymnasium to watch, and they loved every minute of it. In addition to the games, Pastor Paul Julian was given a chance to speak to the crowd and share the gospel with them! It was a great opportunity and another busy, successful day!

The next three days were spent at a special conference. The mission team traveled farther north to the town of Iba, Zambales for a pastor’s/church worker’s conference. There were over 600 people who attended the conference. Along with the other scheduled speakers, Pastor Paul Julian, Pastor James Muscerino, as well as myself were able to speak to the delegates at the conference. I was asked to speak on the importance of children’s ministry and share about the AWANA program. Dr. and Mrs. Tanney were also able to give vitamins and medical care to many of the pastors who attended. It was a wonderful experience and we thank Pastor Edwin Tan for organizing and leading the event.

As the mission team finished up their busy schedule, we were blessed to have them come to our church one final time for a special Sunday evening service. We had the privilege of having Pastor Mucerino as our speaker. He had a great message and challenge for us all. Following the service, we had a special meal for everyone which included the traditional lechon baboy (roasted pig), as well as rice, bananas, and coconut juice.

The mission team was a great blessing to our church and we are thankful that they were able to come and visit us. We were so blessed to have them come and spend time with us, to minister to our people, to encourage us, to challenge us, and most importantly to share the gospel to the Filipino people. We are also thankful to the people from our church for their hard work in volunteering, preparing, and helping to make everything possible.
