Youth Camp 2013

Last May 14-17, we attended the 9th Baptist Youth Camp. There were a total of twenty-three from our church who made the five hour journey to Calauan, Laguna. The theme for this year's camp was “God’s Word In Our World". The theme verse was 1 John 2:15: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."

I was able to speak during one of the divided session on Thursday morning. I spoke to the 1st and 2nd year high school students about peer pressure.

The campers were split up into four different groups: Readers of the Word, Doers of the Word, Hearers of the Word, and Learners of the Word. The days were packed with many different activities. We started each day with morning exercise/devotions at 6:00 a.m. We ate a filling breakfast and then headed to the auditorium for the morning session. After we ate lunch, there were group activities, competitions, and team building exercises. After that, everyone had an opportunity to take an afternoon siesta or use their free time to go swimming, play basketball, volleyball, soccer, or just sit around and talk. Following our evening meal, we headed back to the auditorium for the night session which included singing (our group sang "There is Nothing Greater than Grace"), special presentations, cheering, and preaching. When the evening session was finished, everyone stayed up to fellowship and enjoy the company of the other campers.

Please continue to pray for the young people of our church. Please pray that they will always look to the unchanging Word of God for direction and guidance in the middle of a constantly changing world.

God Bless,

-Matt, Rina, & Liam-
