August Recap

The past several weeks have been packed full of different activities for our church! We thank everyone for their continued prayers.

The ladies group had a special cooking lesson / fellowship. Along with having a special devotion time, one of the ladies in our church, Ma'am Jaylo, who is a home economics teacher at the local high school, taught the ladies about the importance of having proper hygiene while working in the kitchen. She also showed the group of 17 ladies how to make her special recipe of breaded chicken and chicken lollipops. Of course, after the demonstration they were all able to sample the delicious food!

Our youth group had a "lock in" at the church. After our Sunday night service, they stayed at the church to sleep over since the following day there was no school. We talked, played some games, relaxed, ate some food, and just had an overall good time together.

We had a church work day. There were about 45 volunteers from high school age and above who signed up to help with various projects around the church. We started at around 8:00am and went until about 3:00pm. We really got a lot accomplished! There were people assigned to painting the doors, wall trim, door frames, the tricycles, metal grills, as well as varnishing the different pieces of bamboo furniture. Others helped to remove everything from the kitchen, clean the various items, scrub the kitchen from top to bottom, and then re-organize everything in the freshly cleaned space. Another group washed and thoroughly cleaned the restrooms. There was also a group assigned to taking apart, cleaning, and re-greasing all of the electric fans. People were assigned to patch leaks in the roof, install a ceiling fan, weld together some iron grills, power-wash the concrete, adjust the bookshelf, do some minor masonry repairs, as well as soap and wash over 250 chairs. Of course no group clean up would be complete without food, and thankfully we had a few ladies who expertly put together our delicious "merienda" of banana-que as well as our lunch of chicken tinola (prepared with green papaya, garlic, malunggay leaves to name a few of the ingredients) with rice. We thank the Lord for all those who willingly gave up their day off and graciously volunteered to help on the work day!

I had the privilege of being asked to be the guest speaker for the 13th church anniversary of God's Covenant Fundamental Baptist Church with Pastor Resty Rivera. The theme was based out of Philippians 3:14 - "press toward the mark". We rented 2 jeepneys along with our church vehicle and brought about 60 people from our church to support them on their anniversary and join them in giving thanks to God for another year of service.

God Bless,

-Ptr. Matt, Rina, & Liam-
