Youth Camp 2012

Last week was our annual youth camp. We brought thirteen high school & college students to the Word of Life camp located south of Manila in the province of Laguna. We left at 6am Tuesday morning and made the 4 hour drive to the town of Calauan. Everyone was really excited for the camp. The theme for the 2012 camp was "To Be Like Christ". This year we were also joined by the youth from the the churches of both Ptr. Resty and Ptr. Edwin. I believe that there were around 380 total people who attended the camp this year!

There was a good, full program set for this years camp. Each day started with early morning devotions, followed by a delicious breakfast. After we ate, it was time for the morning preaching session. I was blessed to be able to speak on Wednesday morning. My topic was "To Be Like Christ - In His Walk" and we focused on the humility of Jesus out of Philippians chapter 2. Also that morning, our young ladies sang the hymn "O To Be Like Thee" as a special number. Following the morning service there was group game time with all of the four different teams competing against each other. The teams this year were: the Sincere Shepherds, the Peculiar Priests, the Humble Servants, and the Wise Counselors. While the games were going on, the adults had a special group session that focused on different areas of ministry along with some practical tips. After the busy morning, everyone once again gathered in the cafeteria for lunch. Following another delicious meal, the afternoon was mainly given for free time. You could go swimming, play basketball, volleyball, football, soccer, table tennis, use the zip-line, etc. Or, you could just talk and fellowship or simply take a short nap. They was also a short portion of the afternoon that each of the four teams dedicated to practicing their group cheer. After a busy afternoon, it was once again time to eat. Everyone gathered for dinner and then afterwards quickly got ready for the evening service. The evening services were always exciting. There were several special songs and skits and even a 3-D video presentation. Of course we also heard preaching and every night the challenge was given. The theme was clear, by your actions, words, thoughts, and testimony, may your life be given to be like Christ.
